Artist Bio
Nicole Phend is a mixed media artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Northern Iowa. She celebrates transcendent bliss found through domestic routine by shining light onto the EXTRA within the ordinary. Nicole infuses whimsy and sparkles into her work, transforming ordinary moments, objects, and materials into playful expressions of divine connection.
Phend’s work has been showcased in a variety of exhibitions, including “Femme Fantastique” at Assemblage Contemporary Craftsman Gallery in Buda, Texas; “Pantry” at EYELOUNGE in Phoenix, Arizona; and numerous exhibitions at the Charles City Arts Center, in Charles City, Iowa, where she served as Executive Director for 10 years. Phend seeks to engage diverse audiences through her art, inviting viewers to find humor and spirituality in the mundane.

I seek to preserve the identity of the housewife as a goddess who creates spiritual transcendence through domestic ritual. By isolating and repeating small, seemingly insignificant actions, moments, details, and objects from everyday existence, unusual meaning develops, illuminating the routines and things that are so common and mundane that have previously been invisible.”
